As a guest, they would want to prove that they couldn't be pushed around easily. Coach Bonnie Tan said, "We are definitely the underdogs this coming season but we'll come out fighting every time we step on the hard court." Had they been accepted last year, he would've had a more competitive lineup, but, according to him, even if two key players are graduating this year, he'll make sure they'll give the two (Napiza and Lacap) a good send-off. The Pirates only got to assemble a decent team a couple of weeks before the school opened. They were unsure of their fate up until the official announcement of their participation. With that, they did not waste any time in trying to get their team in tip-top shape and form in a short span of time. Aaron Anacta and Lacap will man the point while Guevarra, Cayabyab and the other will do the rest. Onofre Napiza Jr, alongside Allan Santos will dominate the paint. Both are playing their final college season. Former San Beda Red Cub Gian Mallari is also expected contribute to LPU's campaign. Tan said, "Because we're new, we'll make the most out of this experience. Not everyone can have an opportunity to play in a big league like this. " The future of this team will start from the foundation they have built this season.
