Team Preview
As they face this season without their two foreign players, the Heavy Bombers will now go back to their original plan of relying on one another and just trusting their talents and skills without the help of talented imports. The Aerial Voyager, Vergel Meneses will be calling the shots for his alma mater for the second straight year. He said, "I know I would be able to see the full potentials of the kids when the season opens." He shared that in their Korea training last May, they delivered well compared to last year, which is a good sign despite having a small line-up in this coming season. Quite a number of rookies will be mainstays of Meneses' rotation so to speak. Villarias, a deadly shooter if the right button is pressed, can very well compliment and add up to the production of the sweet-shooting Nate Matute. Kabigting, who will be playing his fifth and final year, can already feel the pressure beyond his 6'0 height. A rookie point guard in Romnick Mendoza has showed his brilliance in their bridesmaid finish to San Beda in the Father Martins Cup Finals last March. Carampil and Gaco, despite having an average height of just 6'4 are expected to bang bodies with taller opponents just to control the boards. Apinan, who will be graduating this year as well, will have all eyes on him and Kabigting. Height disparity will be a main problem for the Heavy Bombers. Their only legitimate center in their fold is the graduating John Montemayor, who stands 6'6. With most people counting them out of the Final Four contention this year, JRU, will probably drop their bombs when teams least expect them to. Former Light Bomber Jordan Dela Paz, a shooting guard fresh from High School could also spark something big for the Heavies.
