Team Preview
The loss of Ice Ciriacruz is a big blow for the Chiefs but the addition of new faces and the maturity of team captain Andrian Celada (who will be graduating after this season) will definitely spice things up for Arellano. Sophomore Rocky Acidre, the deadly shooter from beyond the arc learned to be tougher and meaner from the outside due to his stint with Blackwater in the PBA D-League. The Chiefs will also have to get decent numbers from Lapuz and Del Rosario, who will be leaving the squad after this season. The wide-bodied Lapuz might as well give it his 101% so as to leave a mark upon his exit. Celada will still be the heart and soul of this team. With his ability to create something from nothing on court, the Chiefs just might bag this year's dark horse tag. Apart from being a team whose name wouldn't come up if you predict your Final Four lineup, the Chiefs has this surprise factor that makes them deadly. Not to be taken lightly, Arellano also has this new addition in Chris Okpe, another foreign player to suit up in Season 87 will have all eyes on him. Standing at around 6'6, Okpe wowed the crowd in one of Arellano's preseason game by scoring his solitary basket in the last two minutes of play that also served as their first go-ahead basket and winning bucket. Although he's no Sudan Daniel, Okpe's towering height will be an advantage when it comes to collaring those loose balls. The Chiefs, overall are capable of pulling upsets against bigger and favored teams.
